Dr. Lewis Britton attended
college at St.Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas where he received
a BA in Biology(summa cum laude). He then went on to graduate from
Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1978. He completed a
General Surgery residency followed by a Cardiothoracic Surgery training
program at Albany Medical Center Hospital. He then went on to comlete a
fellowship in pediatric cardiac surgery at Boston Children's Hospital
in the Department of Surgery of Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Britton successfully passed certification exams from the American
Board of Surgery and is certified by the American Board of Thoracic
Surgery currently. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons
as well as the American College of Cardiology. He is also a member of
the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He is on staff at Albany Medical
Center Hospital where he the Acting Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He
also holds staff appointments at Albany Memorial Hospital, St. Peter's
Hospital, and Ellis Hospital.
Dr. Britton's areas of interest include adult cardiac surgery, thoracic
aortic surgery, and adult congenital cardiac surgery.
Dr. Britton lives in Loudonville and enjoys many outdoor activities
including golf, skiing, and biking.
